Shifting sands have changed the ground around Morris Island Lighthouse for over 400 years. The light used to sit on one of a trio of islands, then stood on one big compiled island, and today sits in the middle of the water 300 yards off shore. The submerged sands that still support Morris Island Lighthouse are now protected by an underground wall.
