Dusk Clouds And Petit Manan Lighthouse, Maine (WR55)
Click photo for larger view.
Petit Manan Island sits in the Atlantic Ocean three miles from the rocky shores. In addition to the large tern population (guests of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge), the island is home to Petit Manan Lighthouse, one of the more lonely coast-guarding outposts of the days of manned light stations. In this photo, the dusk clouds and the haze add to the feeling of distance — Petit Manan Light is a long ways out.
