Misty Morning At Rose Island Light, Narragansett Bay (WR475)

Rhode Island's Rose Island Light is kept in the same condition as it was in 1912, including being powered by a windmill just several yards from the front door. The sole signs of contemporary society are seen when one looks offshore toward the waterfront homes of Jamestown to the west and the bustling harbor of Newport to the east. On this foggy morning in late spring, however, everything modern is masked; Rose Island Lighthouse and the few visible feet of the surrounding Narragansett Bay look almost exactly as they would have a century before.
