Seagulls And Rose Island Lighthouse In Sunrise Light (WR426)
Click photo for larger view.
The Rose Island Lighthouse stands stately atop a cement seawall in Narragansett Bay, halfway between Jamestown and Newport, helping to guide boats and ships through the bay's east passage since 1870. For the most part, anyway. The light was extinguished from 1971 to 1993, between being decommissioned by the Coast Guard and relit by the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation.
