The moon and Marshall Point Light have something in common: They both have helped seafarers navigate their way over water. The moon's position in the sky, in conjunction with a sextant and chronometer in hand, has been an aid to navigation since before recorded history. Marshall Point Light has assisted the same cause with a white beam of light shining ten miles into the Atlantic Ocean since 1857.
