Shooting in southern California in the spring of 1999, I came across this scene along a road near shore. I was drawn to the juxtaposition of the tropical feeling of the palm trees and the rugged mountain feeling of the edge of the Rockies in the background. Exposing for the background scenery allowed for the silhouettes of the trees.
