This photo of old tree skeletons in Rocky Mountain National Park is mostly about the light. The afternoon had been mostly cloudy, leaving much of the landscape dark and muddy. But when the sun broke through the clouds for a few minutes, it nicely illuminated the trees and pasture against the gloomy background. The trees themselves help tell the story of a landscape scarred by development — not by humans, but by beavers that once flooded the pasture.
