Photographing in mist or fog is not as straightforward as it may appear. All the light bouncing around in the water vapor drastically effects film exposure. In the case of this morning mist scene from Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, if I'd exposed the way my camera's meter wanted me to, the developed film frame would have been almost clear.
