A cool evening in Smoky Mountains National Park allowed a thick fog to gather and greet dawn's rising sun. Though the late-spring air warms quickly, the fog is so thick that it doesn't dissipate completely for almost two hours. In the meantime, the fog gives an airy — or perhaps eerie — feeling to the landscapes of the Cades Cove region of the park.
