I jumped really high to make this photo. (Just kidding.) In reality, I made this photo of Blue Hill Bay Light during an aerial shoot of about a half-dozen Maine lighthouses. I'd been photographing the Maine coast on a trip with fellow photographer Jean Paul Vellotti. We'd just finished working around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but wanted to do more lighthouse work in the area before we headed out. Many of the most photogenic lighthouses in that region of Maine (especially Blue Hill Bay Light) are not accessible or visible from land. So we took the "easy" way out — we hired a pilot.
