Bight Crevice Skink on Nullarbor Plain, Australia (AU807)

When I photographed this Bight Crevice Skink (Egernia
richardi) on the Nullarbor
Plain, I had no idea that I was one of the
few photographers to ever do so. I merely saw a lizard that didn't mind
posing in its natural habitat, so I obliged and made some portraits. Only
years later did I know what I had, when both an Australian naturalist
and an expert at a natural museum identified the species for me. So, meet
the Bight Crevice Skink; it's smiling just for you.
