I was at Point Lonsdale to photograph the lighthouse and looked behind me to see the sun rising over the water. I quickly turned around and got this photo — a serendipitous moment on an otherwise well-planned morning at work. The setting looks peaceful at sunrise, but this is where the Bass Strait pours into Port Phillip Bay, creating The Rip, one of the most hazardous spots of water in the world.
