Charles Island and Shore Boulders Under Moonlight (090710.029)

Charles Island lies off the southern coast of Connecticut, a quarter-mile due south of Silver Sands State Park. Living in walking distance from the park for five years gave me the opportunity to survey the protected landscapes in just about every light and weather condition imaginable. My favorite? Full-moonlight. Under lunar illumination, long exposures allowed the waters to even out, and the light reflecting off different types of surfaces (rock, cloud, foliage) created interesting color shifts. This image was born from several of these late overnights shooting Charles Island and the shifting Silver Sands.
