Mondo Ponds is a little-known but beautiful park in Milford, Connecticut, where I spent a little over a year working on a photo project to document the change of seasons. The pond edges feature mostly stands of deciduous trees, but the southern end of the biggest pond is edged by a grove of pines. It's one of my favorite areas of the park, but I'd found it difficult to photograph. Finally on an overcast day I decided to layer the repetition of tree trunks in the camera frame, using the diffused light to softly side-light the scene.
