Though I hardly ever do it, I love shooting in New York City. The details of city life are such a foreign concept to me, a suburb boy from Connecticut, just as the mesas of the Arizona desert and the gum trees of Australia are. Iron fire escapes are one of the defining features of life in the city, and in this case I liked how the warm late-day sunlight warmed the building and highlighted the contrast between the painted brick and the hard dark lines of the grate and trim.
