Lots of room to work. Nice grove of trees
on one side. Best light is at either magic hour
beginning of day, lighthouse will be backlit, end of day
frontlit. However, trees will block the sunlight before
the sun sets. |

Outer Banks |

Light hits it all day. Be warned, though:
the lighthouse was moved a few years ago and no longer
sits next to water. It's in a field surrounded by brush
and trees; not very aesthetic surroundings anymore. |

Not much around it to use in the foreground, but you might
find something along the beach. |

Slightly challenging to shoot well. It's
in the middle of the water about a couple hundred yards
off shore. Park at the far northeast end of Folley Beach
and make the quarter-mile walk to the beach at the tip
of the island. Lighthouse is front-lit at mid-day, side-lit
at sunrise and sunset. Shooting at low tide will get you
closer to the lighthouse and can give you tide pools to
use as foreground elements. |
